Ion Track, founded in 1973, is the leading provider of high-performance devices for detecting trace amounts of explosives and illegal drugs. Ion Track's products are used worldwide to protect aircraft, ships, facilities and buildings under risk of terrorist attacks. They are deployed at some 150 airports, 220 U.S. embassies and 52 nuclear power facilities. The devices are also widely used by customs, border control and corrections officials to detect or deter trafficking in illegal drugs. Ion Track's principal products, based on proprietary patented technology, are the Itemiser¨ Contraband Detector, a desktop device, the hand-held VaporTracer, and EntryScan, a walk-through portal. All of the devices provide non-invasive detection of traces of explosives or illegal drugs on individuals. Castle Harlan acquired the company in 2000 and sold it to the General Electric Company in 2002.
